MSO have responded to the local need for affordable and flexible office space. Workspace provides permanent desks or hot desks, on the new Level 1 of its’ premises, providing a cost-effective solution for people to transition out of their home office into a professional environment.
According to the NSW Small Business Commissioner, two-thirds of the Hunter’s 45,000 businesses currently operate in the services sector. The majority of these are very small, with fewer than four employees and revenues below $500,000 per year.
The Hunter & Newcastle Region has the highest proportion of small business operators outside Sydney with 6.5% of the total NSW Small businesses.
Additionally, 20% of all NSW small business operators indicated they work from home.
MSO have supported many such businesses in setting up their professional work space in Permanent Serviced Offices. In February 2018, MSO will launch WorkSpace that provides a shared area and a way of spending time away from their home office, or for people needed a day or more while they are visiting the area.
WorkSpace will offer comfortable break-out rooms, a hot desk hub, dedicated desks and access to private meeting rooms for businesses, professionals, sole traders, consultants and students to work in an office environment.
Hot Desks will provide a flexible opt in and out option for people needing a desk space to work from and the dedicated desk provides flexible weekly options for people needing a more economical permanent space.
Owner Paul Callinan says, “what’s exciting about shared office spaces is the ability to work with other professionals and creative people where you can share ideas and solve problems or work independently”.
With an increasing number of people are opting to work from home, Paul explains that “there are times when it is just not viable to work at home or a person might benefit from working in a business environment and enjoy the networking and experience of working in a professional space”.
Tenants utilising MSO WorkSpace may do so for one day per week and build up as their needs change and their business grows, allowing the transition into a more permanent serviced office.
Maitland Serviced Offices was created in 2004 realising the need for a professional working environment in the Hunter where businesses could establish themselves as their businesses grow or for newcomers establishing themselves in the area.
